Latest Beers Timber and Building Supplies outlet gains from Polypal display and storage expertise

Polypal Retail System capability offers key benefits for timber and building supplier on Merseyside.

Through the creation of versatile, efficient storage of palletised and loose products, the design and installation of a brand new trade counter area, and the optimisation of available display and storage space through the construction of a purpose-designed mezzanine, Polypal has provided Beers, one of Merseyside’s leading independent timber and building suppliers with clear-cut benefits.  The new facility, at the refurbished Kings Dock Street premises in Liverpool, is offering Beers the opportunity to maximise its display and storage capability and provide an enhanced customer experience.

“The recent opening of a new bulk storage facility at our Warrington site has enabled us to focus on the development of our original premises in Kings Dock Street,” says Simon Geering, Director at Beers.  “Polypal’s expertise has helped us to maximise both the capacity and effectiveness of the site, reflecting our commitment to offering a wide range of stock and to meeting all customer requirements – both trade and retail.”

Polypal undertook the work in Liverpool in three distinct phases, as Ian Craig, Business Development Manager at the company, explains –

“The 300 sq. m. mezzanine floor structure was constructed above the area of the ground floor that was set to house the new trade counter and is dedicated to the bulk storage of insulation materials,” he says.

“Once this was in place, we supplied and installed a total of 12 bays of pallet racking, 10 bays of cantilever racking for bulk timber storage and 24 bays of A-frame racking for loose timber – all at ground level.  The project was finished with a complete re-design of the trade counter area, to optimise the company’s ability to deal with multiple customer enquiries, alongside the installation of perimeter longspan racking and both low and high level gondola shelving to the shop floor area.”

Ian Craig draws particular attention to the benefits of the mezzanine design – pointing out that it has enabled Beers to utilise space that otherwise would be little more than empty void.  “By using this design, we have been able to provide one of the most important commodities for any outlet in the sector – additional storage and retail space – all within the existing building.”

With some 10,000 product lines available, Beers Timber and Building Supplies fulfils an important and highly successful supply role in the region and now operates via five outlets across the Merseyside area.  “We believe it is important to meet our customers’ requirements as efficiently as possible and to provide them with solutions to their needs each time they visit one of our outlets,” adds Simon Geering.  “High quality displays, good storage capacity and, importantly, the versatility to adapt the facility as customer requirements and new product developments emerge, are all important factors in this regard.

“We believe that by working closely with Polypal, and by making the most of their equipment and expertise, we are now in a position to build on our proven success record long into the future,” he concludes.
